Jadon Sancho has failed to turn up for Manchester City training ‘on several occasions’ this past week, according to a Daily Telegraph exclusive.

Sancho has emerged as a target for Arsenal and Tottenham, with Bundesliga pair Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig willing to rival the Premier League duo for his signature.

City have offered the forward a ‘lucrative first professional contract’, but Sancho is thought to be reluctant to sign.

He feels the ‘pathway to the first team’ is blocked at City, and is dismayed at having been left off the club’s pre-season tour of the United States this summer.

Pep Guardiola had planned to take the 17-year-old, along with Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz, who both impressed when they were used.

They decided to leave Sancho at home with his future uncertain however, with the forward ‘failing to appear for training at City’s CFA training ground a number of times’ since.

Club staff also ‘struggled to reach’ the player, and ‘there would have to be dramatic turn-around  for him to now stay at the club’.

If Sancho left for a foreign team, with the aforementioned Dortmund and Leipzig circling, City would be in line for only a small compensation fee of around £200,000.

However, if the player departed for a fellow English club, said fee would be set at a tribunal.

City are said to be ‘unhappy about some of the overtures made to the player’, whose best friend is Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson.
